Sunspot's Avengers Idea Mechanics were still considered a potential terrorist threat to the United States due to their history. Dacosta reimagined his purchased organization as American Intelligence Mechanics to make them a dedicated support group and sub-group for S.H.I.E.L.D., merging the two agencies. The new AIM's field team became known as the U.S. Avengers.
